First I want to let you know that my blog has undergone an update.
I made it easier to read and started using the plugin of yoast. These changes are necessary for a better search engine optimization. And I decided to add photo’s in my blog.
In this blog I will share information about how I started marketing my new ebook. I published my book on Smashwords and I decided to publish it on pre order. The launch of the book is on 5 th September 2020.
My book on pre order at smashwords
Pre order on Smashwords gives me the advantage to have the time to market my book. Well, my knowledge of marketing my book was very poor. So I had to get specialized knowledge in how to best market my book. In the free e book of Joanna Penn, there is a lot of information how to publish and how to market your ebook.
I studied this information really closely because writing a book is 5% of the work, the other 95% is the marketing of your book. Social media is a great way to market your book. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin are great opportunities which you can use. Influencers and book bloggers and book tubers are also great to use.
Establish your brand
The most important is to establish a brand for yourself. Something that people will recognize. As you read in an earlier blog, I made my own website to establish my brand. Blogging is also one of the things you can do so that people will find you on the internet. I searched how can I make a blog and I found a free tool to use, Blogger.
I chose this because I want to keep the costs of publishing and marketing my book as low as I can. Another wonderful way to be found on the internet is to subscribe to sites about books and authors. I found a perfect article on the internet with 50 sites you can subscribe to, so that your brand becomes known in the book world.

Creating a mailing list
What Joanna Penn also advised is to get a mailing list. Oeps, how do I make a mailing list? I got a tip from a friend who uses Mailchimp. Mailchimp is a program that gives you the opportunity to creat you mailinglist and create a perfect signup form for your website. At this time I am creating a new website because my hosting at lifestylebizz ends in july.
A totally new website
My husband found a great new hostingprlatform, eightwebhosting. 16 websites including hosting for 8 years for a great prize. My new website is: https://lorettaborbooks.co.business. Joanna Penn also gave the advice to do paid ads to market your book.
With paid ads the marketing goes faster and you can select a targeted audience. Ads on Amazon, Bookbup, Facebook and others like Freebooksy and Bargain booksy. I’m not doing paid ads because I want to publish the book with minimal costs.
Marketing your book by using facebook groups
Joining groups on facebook is another tip I read. I searched and found great FB groups in self publishing and joined them. What I do every day is to post on the various platforms and blog as much as I can. You want to have as much exposure on the internet as you can.
My affiliate program to promoot my book through social media
Another great feature I came across is that Smashwords has an affiliate program. People can sign up and promote your book. I started using this right away. If you sign up and you promote my book on your social media and someone buys the book with your link, you receive 13% of the price bonus.
